Modi congratulates Japanese PM on poll win

Modi congratulates Japan PM on election victory

New Delhi, (IANS) Prime Minster Narendra Modi Monday congratulated his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe on his electoral victory.

"Modi Tweeted: Congratulations to Shinzo Abe on his victory in the elections. Japan will scale newer heights of progress under his leadership," Modi said in a statement."I look forward to continuing to work closely with Shinzo Abe to strengthen the relations between India and Japan," he added.

Abe scored a big win in the snap polls with his Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and its partner Komeito Party bagging two-thirds of the seats in the 475-member Lower House of Parliament.

"I look forward to continuing to work closely with @AbeShinzo to strengthen the relations between India & Japan," he said in another tweet. Modi and Abe share a close personal relationship which was reflected when the Indian leader travelled to Japan in August.
